Lest We Forget's Patriotic Veterans' Concert with the Southshore Concert Band--Nov 6, 2016
BENTON HARBOR--It will be active, it will be loud and it will be patriotic as the Southshore Concert Band joins Lest We Forget in saluting veterans of all conflicts in their annual Veterans Day Patriotic Concert on Sunday, November 6, 2 pm at Lake Michigan College's Mendel Center in Benton Harbor.
This will be the eleventh veterans' concert put on by Lest We Forget and the Southshore Concert Band led by Dale Reuss. The 80 members of the Southshore Band will be featuring traditional patriotic songs and salutes for the branches of the service, PLUS patriotic songs from the wars that our country has fought. For example, for the Revolutionary War of 1776 the signature song will be “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” For the Civil War it will be “To Heal a Nation” featuring the “Gettysburg Address.” For the Vietnam War it will be “Black Granite March.” This concert will be one hour of musical history that will be very educational. Bring your children and grandchildren for a history lesson they’ll never forget!
For the 2016 concert LWF will honor all veterans by taking their photo. The picture taking will start at 1 pm and continue until 1:45 pm. Additionally, a tribute will be paid to the Lest We Forget members who have passed on. We will be showing their photographs while Jeffrey Whittaker from Niles will be singing "The Mansions of the Lord."
Veterans of all conflicts will be recognized, along with a "Tribute to Missing Comrades" which will be read by Al Pscholka of Stevensville. There will also be a salute to each branch of the armed services. The master of ceremonies is Jim O'Malley.
Tickets are available at Stevensville & St. Joseph Martin's or from LWF members at $10. Tickets from Lake Michigan College Mendel Box Office (269-927-1221 or www.lmcmainstage.org) are $12.50. Children 17 and under are free.
There will be a map of Vietnam and Vietnam veterans will be able to sign their signature in the place they served. There will be an opportunity at the concert to purchase Lest We Forget shirts, books and DVD's. For questions call Lest We Forget at 269-925-7176 or go to www.lestweforgetusa.org.
